While traveling in our RV (known
as AWO - All We Own)
WE:
have been stunned by the amazing scenery
checked out great hiking trails, and some strenuous hiking trails (including
the tallest mountain in Texas)
hiked on a several glaciers, saw glaciers caving, saw natural floating
ice sculptures - icebergs, bergie bits and growlers.
made friends with some animals-Karen almost got run over by a bunch of
deer
taken ATV, Jeep rides, and jet boats into the backcountry
of Alaska,
rode in a float plane
saw the giant Sequoia and Redwood trees
went to Yosemite National Park and saw Bridalveil Fall and El Capitan
enjoyed the colorful wildflowers
spotted and photographed the following wildlife: a cougar,
coyote, bobcat, lynx, beaver, buffalo, moose, dall sheep, mountain goats,
bears, red fox, elk, humpback whales, puffins, sea otters, steller sea
lions, murres, bald eagles, golden eagles, alligators, manatees, big iguanas,
a gopher tortoise, wild turkeys, deer, boar, a groundhog, seals, quail,
squirrels, chipmunks, butterflies, cranes, black swans, white swans, peacocks,
seagulls, and ducks (plus wolves but they were in a sanctuary - no longer
total wild)
gave a tour of our RV to Elvin Hayes (who was inducted into the
Basketball Hall of Fame in 1990)
met Dallas Seavey
who took 6th place in the 2009 Iditarod
race.
marveled at stunning waterfalls
made a lot of new friends on the road
canoed down rivers
rode lots of roller coasters
met some long-lost relatives, and visited lots of other relatives and
friends around the USA
enjoyed private hot springs and massages
had their car windshield cracked in several places, car
dented, decals ruined, RV pitted - all on the Alaska Highway
