The Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex, also known as the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, is a nature center owned and operated by the city of Boca Raton, Florida. It is closed on New Year's Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. All Nature Center facilities, including outdoor areas and parking lots are closed outside of its regular hours; Monday - Saturday, 9 AM - 4 PM
Sunday, 12 PM - 4 PM

Admission and parking was free but a $5.00 donation per person is suggested.

There is no beach parking permitted at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. Picnicking is not permitted on Gumbo Limbo property. Pets (with the exception of ADA recognized service animals) are not permitted anywhere on Gumbo Limbo or Red Reef property.

  • Proper attire including shirts and shoes are required at all times. No bathing suites. Sunbathing is not permitted on the property.

  • Most areas are wheelchair accessible.

  • The boardwalks require extensive upkeep and are not designed for rough use. Bicycles, roller blades, roller skates, scooters, or other recreational vehicles are not permitted on boardwalks. Wheelchairs and strollers are permitted on the boardwalks.

  • Minors are required to have adult supervision at all times.

  • Smoking is prohibited.

The two RV Gypsies followed the blue fish that were painted on the pathway. It led them to the Marine Aquariums which house stingrays, lobsters, eels, sea turtles and native fish.

Then the two RV Gypsies followed the butterflies painted on the pathways to the Butterfly Garden, which was not very impressive.

Below: The two RV Gypsies took a quick glance at the Intercoastal Waterway. Swimming was not allowed in this area.

Then it was on to see the sea turtles.
