Thunder Bay is the largest urban centre in Northwestern Ontario. The city lies at the Canadian Lakehead on Lake Superior and is strategically situated at the geographical centre (east-west) of Canada. As a regional centre for industry, shopping, services, recreation and educational opportunities, the city has transportation services by both major Canadian railway systems as well as highway connections west to Winnipeg, east to Sault Ste. Marie and Toronto, and south to Minneapolis and Chicago. |

The drive to
Thunder Bay Lookout was an experience that Lee and Karen Duquette,The
Two RV Gypsies will not forget. It was a long gravel road, not well
maintained but it was worth the trip. The final part of the road was
a rock surface and VERY bumpy. Lee Duquette parked their car and walked
with Karen Duquette, a short distance to the lookout which was just
breathtaking. They stood on top of a cliff; a deck and steelwork that
allowed them to stand over the cliff high above ground to enjoy spectacular
views over Lake Superior. It was not only the view, the silence was
awesome too. And luckily, Lee and Karen Duquette had the area all to
themselves, as they did with many places they have been to on this trip. |
