in Bedford, VA
September 21, 2025

This is a privately funded (NOT a National Park Service site), so the Memorial should remain open during any government shutdowns. This memorial is usually open daily 10AM to 5PM but closed on Mondays, December-February plus Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. The Memorial closes at 2PM on New Year’s Eve. Ticket sales end at 4:30PM (maybe earlier on special days). For more information on fees, closings, click here.

On June 6, 1944, (D-Day) Allied troops battled insurmountable odds to secure freedom for the world. (please check out the website underlined above, but be sure to return here afterwards to explore the rest of this page and all pages following.

This battle did not end the war in Europe (it took 11 more months). but success on his day created a path to victory. This awe inspiring memorial shown below pays tribute to their valor, fidelity and unimaginable sacrifice. Lee and Karen Duquette feel that all Americans have a duty to keep the spirit of D-Day alive each and every day. Hopefully, soldiers, sailors and airmen will not be called upon to serve on the battlefield as these men did, but they deserve to be honored as they defended the USA.
