Salmon in Seward, Alaska |
| Within a short walking distance from Bear Creek RV Park, is a place where salmon are trying to get upstream. First they have to get through a big pipe that takes them under the road, but there are so many salmon, they cannot all fit through the pipe. | |

Some salmon get in too
shallow and get stuck. If they don't get loose, they just die there. |

| Before the salmon reach the pipe to get to the other side of the road, they swim upstream - in the photos below, each splash you see in the photo is salmon fighting their way to the pipe. The water is crystal clear with a rocky bottom. | |

| Once the salmon get through the pipe, they must jump up through this waterfall. There they are "captured" by the salmon workers, who count them, and release them into the main stream. | |

| When the salmon jump, they must get into the bigger waterfall area, or they hit a gate, and fall back into the water to try again. | |
