Cunningham Falls State Park is located in the picturesque Catoctin Mountains. It got its name from the 78-foot waterfall that is within the park. Cunningham Falls are the largest cascading waterfall in the state. The falls is locally known as McAfee Falls.

The two RV Gypsies decided that they wanted to see these falls. When they parked their truck in the parking lot, they saw two signs - one said "Falls Lookout" and the other said "Falls trail" so they decided to take the Falls Trail because they wanted to get to the waterfall, not just a lookout. They knew that was longer than the lookout trail but did not care about that.

unhappy face Well, this trail was steep and nasty and exhausting. Karen Duquette really hated it. The sign should have warned that it was an extremely difficult trail. Even young people were complaining. After finally reaching the end of the trail - guess what -- it came out to the same place as the shorter, beginner trail that was labeled to the Overlook. Karen Duquette was fuming mad. The signs were misleading, and the two RV Gypsies felt that they suffered that hard painful trail for nothing.

Of course they took the easy short route back. And they did not even get good photos because of the idiots actually on the waterfall rocks. So many people risk their lives at waterfalls by walking where they should not. It is up to each person to keep themselves safe by not making stupid decisions. Everyone is responsible for their own safety no matter where they are or what they do. Anyway, in summary, it was a bummer of a hike for Lee and Karen Duquette, but the falls was okay.
